12/15 The American Democracy Institute Photo Booth
I set up a photo booth for donors and guests at The American Democracy Institute holiday party. Current TV hosts Max Lugavere (above) and Jason Silva helped host the party with friends Tara and Nolina (see them in the slide show here:). I ended up keeping the photo booth going until almost midnight and we had a lot of laughs.

12/3-12/7 PA on Jacques Olivar Fashion Shoot
Jacques Olivar shoots a model for Italian Marie Claire Magazine (photo: Colin Young-Wolff)
I worked production on a really cool fashion shoot w/ Kona and Legend Photo a few weeks ago. The photographer, Jacques Olivar, was amazing and the whole crew was awesome as well. After the five day shoot I have been inspired to try and shoot some fashion of my own so I'm setting up a couple of tests and we'll see how they go!

11/11-11/14 Mel Karch photo shoot for Marie Claire Magazine
Mel Karch photographs a model for Marie Claire Magazine (photo: Colin Young-Wolff)
Kona and Yasuko from Legend Photo Productions hired me to be the on-site producer for one of my favorite photographer's 4 day photo shoots. In between production/coordination issues I was able to witness cool moments like this one which I snapped on Mel Karch's point and shoot camera while she photographed a model in a horse drawn carriage in Red Rock, CA (a beautiful spot around 2 hours North of LA).

11/09 Lodi's Rehearsal Dinner
After finishing up w/ the Chameleon Chair shoot I battled 2 hours of traffic to arrive just in time (well maybe 15 minutes late) for Zack and Irene's rehearsal dinner at The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. It was a huge event including music, dancing, food and singing and even Zack busting out on the Clarinet. Slide show
11/09 Chameleon Chairs Ad shoot
In a non-event photo job my Dad (www.davidyoung-wolff.com) and I photographed an advertisement for Chameleon Chairs (check their website to see our individual chair product shots). Here is the ad w/o text and logo. I will replace it once they send us a digital file of the actual ad.

9/28 Photo Booth @ Bagavagabonds Party
The Bagavagabonds had me come set up a photo booth at their dope Beatle's inspired party last Friday night. The booth eventually got crowded and I think a good time was had by all. We also celebrated Ian's bday that night. Happy Birthday Ian! More Bagavagabond events coming soon and you would be wise to peep them (along with this Slide Show)

9/15 Scion Art Gallery: Aussie Characters
The latest Scion art gallery featured some tight Australian artists with the art ranging from sculptures to cool paintings and photos. Pink came in and immediately bought three pieces from one of the artists, adding some intrigue to an otherwise quiet night. See more photos here:

The morning after the ASR Convention I drove from San Diego to Santa Barbara to shoot the Scion Highway event. Hundreds of Scion owners drove their cars up from Dodger stadium for free food, drinks, carnival games, music and Scion giveaways. Slide show:

9/7-9/8 ASR Convention, San Diego
Four blank walls became canvasses for 20 artists at the ASR Convention in San Diego (put on by the non-profits ISM Community Magazine and The Glue Network). Each wall had an environmental theme and it was sick to watch them come to life.
Check next quarter's ISM Community Magazine to see my photos in print!

8/26 F Yeah Fest w/ Midnight Movies
I have an ongoing idea for a project called www.theglasscurtain.com (coming soon?) featuring behind the scenes photos, interviews, video, tour photos etc of cool bands in the area. The rockin' LA band Midnight Movies invited me to their recording studio to document their experience at the F Yeah Fest in LA. I followed Gena and the band around as they loaded gear, chilled in the Green room, talked outside, and performed a great set. The project is still waiting to materialize so I'll post the photos here for now (also a couple from their performance @ The Hammer). Check out the band's myspace page for some sweet musica.

8/25 Scion Art Gallery: To The Masses
Lots of homies rolled out to this show which was awesome... we were rolling 15-20 deep, so thanks to all of you who supported the artwork and artists. Afterward, that In & Out sure tasted great also. Images should be up here .

8/1 Scion House Party
This event was off the hook! I have never felt so much energy at a concert (or a photo shoot for that matter). There were probably 5 photographers and 3 videographers on stage, plus 20 fans or so, all dancing like crazy to the sick DJ's Justice, Kavinsky, Sebastien and Busy P. Click here to see a slide show.

07/27 Arthur and Yu Photos and Interview
Another band Nat and I discovered while covering The Album Leaf was Arthur and Yu, a beautiful and melodic group who had just started performing together when we were lucky enough to catch them. Sensing a bright future we decided to interview them for The Glass Curtain (to exist some day soon...?). Check the interview here (questions written by Nat Bach) and a short slide show of their performance @ El Rey.

5/19-27 Tourin' w/ Raining Jane
Images from a week on tour w/ RJ:
Photos: © Colin Young-Wolff 2007
Raining Jane and I have a lot of history. They were the first band I ever shot studio portraits of, the first band who ever used my photos on a CD cover or flier, and the first band to take me on tour w/ them. Touring with these four girls was eye opening, if not life changing. To see four people actually living their dream (they tour 9 months out of the year) is ridiculously inspiring. Photographing shows across the Pacific Northwest, meeting amazing people in each town that we visited, shooting day in the life and portrait photos, celebrating birthdays and going out to bars, crashing in random hotels and houses, but each day filled with the common thread of beautiful music... the response from fans and the crowd, often with tears in their eyes. Wow.
